20 Years of Kultura
Kultura marks its 20th anniversary with pride and gratitude. Throughout these years, we have remained steadfast in upholding our core values, becoming a beacon of heritage preservation, a platform for showcasing local artistry, and a driving force behind the support of artisanal communities and MSMEs. Our commitment to sustainability echoes in every piece we offer.
As we embrace the new year ahead, we reflect on our 20-year journey. Envisioned as a one-stop destination for all things Filipino, Kultura began as the Philippine Crafts section at the SM Department store, then opened its first stand-alone store at SM Makati in 2004. The company is now known for its diverse selection of Filipiniana and Barong Tagalog, authentic Philippine pearls, local delicacies, natural wellness essentials, sustainable home decor, and more. Over the past two decades, we have provided a piece of home for everyone – from Balikbayans and tourists to locals. Today, with over 45 locations nationwide, Kultura has established itself as the largest Filipino lifestyle retailer in the country.
Embarking on our 20th year, we continue to celebrate tradition and dedicate ourselves to social entrepreneurship, serving as a bridge for tradition, commerce and social impact. Throughout the years, we've fostered partnerships with suppliers across the regions, empowering MSMEs and social enterprises. Connecting social enterprises, skilled artisans, and conscious consumers, Kultura has propelled suppliers into sustainable and impactful businesses, offering a rich variety of products to a broader market. Through our e-commerce and in-store international deliveries, we are a platform for these enterprises and their foray into the global market. Our collaboration with MSMEs has not only transformed their businesses but has also improved the lives of Filipino artisans, creating quality job opportunities, especially for women and underserved groups. Each purchase holds profound meaning, contributing to the livelihood of talented local artisanal communities.
In addition, Kultura continues to champion sustainability. We integrate green living in small yet meaningful ways, working closely with suppliers who share our commitment to social responsibility and prioritizing products crafted from biodegradable, natural, and recycled materials. Our Crafts for a Cause line features a variety of eco-conscious products, including functional totes that are upcycled from discarded juice packs. These are skillfully crafted by mostly single mothers from our partner social enterprises who come from underserved areas and are the main breadwinners of the family. We collaborate with brands and foundations committed to providing each artisan with stable income opportunities and promote social, economic sustainability. As a marketplace of MSMEs and the home of social enterprises, Kultura empowers local communities, embraces sustainable practices, and provides a platform for businesses that create social impact.
At the heart of our journey lies profound appreciation. We extend our deepest gratitude to our suppliers and partners, who have been integral in crafting the essence of Kultura; our dedicated employees, the backbone of our success, who have contributed immeasurably to our growth and most importantly, our cherished customers, who have shopped with us and shared the joy of Kultura with loved ones here and abroad. This anniversary is not just a milestone; it’s a celebration of 20 years of Kultura, supporting local, and creating timeless connections. Here’s to two decades of meaningful craftsmanship and cultural resonance!
